HAUS Events and Productions, in association with The Drag Cartel, brings a bold, unapologetic new queer theatrical experience to Cape Town this August.
Alice in the Cape Flats is a fearless celebration of identity, survival, and radical acceptance, blending music, drag, Gayle slang, and visual storytelling in a powerful exploration of what it means to be unapologetically yourself.
A Story of Selfhood and Survival
At the heart of the production is Alice – a femme-presenting queer individual navigating life in a world that often demands conformity. Their journey, filled with moments of joy, resistance, and self-discovery, reflects the lived realities of many queer South Africans, particularly in communities where acceptance isn’t guaranteed.
The Visionary Behind the Work
Written, directed, and choreographed by Berlin Williams, the show fuses theatre, dance, and drag with unapologetic queer activism. Williams – a professional dancer, choreographer, writer, director, and drag artist – is a cultural force both locally and internationally.
From performing at the Zeitz MOCAA and teaching Vogue Femme at Suidoosterfees, to being featured in Out Magazine for US Vogue and fronting the Woolworths 2025 Pride Campaign, Berlin’s artistry is rooted in protest, power, and community.
