South African football fans will not need a premium sports package to watch the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
DStv has confirmed that all 104 matches from the expanded FIFA World Cup tournament will be available on its entry-level Access package, marking the first time the full competition will be accessible at this subscription tier.
The move comes as the 2026 tournament prepares to become the biggest World Cup in history, expanding from 32 to 48 national teams.
All 104 FIFA World Cup matches included on DStv Access
The tournament will feature:
- 48 teams
- 104 matches
- Multiple host nations
According to DStv, every match will air live across dedicated SuperSport channels for both satellite and streaming subscribers on the Access package.
The coverage will also include:
- Match analysis
- Preview programmes
- Replays
- Tournament discussion shows
What DStv Access costs in South Africa
DStv Access currently costs:
- R150 per month for satellite subscribers
- R99 per month for streaming-only access
Subscribers will be able to watch matches:
- Through a decoder
- Via the DStv Stream platform
- On the MyDStv app across supported devices
SuperSport adding more language options
SuperSport says the tournament coverage will also feature commentary and broadcasts in multiple languages across Africa.
These include:
- Swahili
- Portuguese
- Pidgin
- Additional regional African languages
The broadcaster says the expanded language offering forms part of efforts to widen accessibility for football audiences across the continent.
World Cup expected to drive major viewership
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is expected to become one of the biggest television events globally, particularly across African markets where football remains the continent’s most watched sport.
The decision to include the full tournament on a lower-tier package could significantly broaden local access for viewers who previously needed more expensive sports subscriptions to follow every match live.
