Cassper Nyovest and Zanele Potelwa to host 2026 South African Music Awards

The 32nd Annual South African Music Awards (SAMA32) will be hosted by South African hip-hop star Cassper Nyovest and 5FM presenter Zanele Potelwa.

The pair will take to the stage on 15 August 2026 at the Sun City Superbowl in the North West Province for this year’s awards ceremony.

Surprise announcement on live radio

The hosts were officially announced during 5FM’s 5 Drive following a day of growing anticipation.

Earlier in the day, Cassper Nyovest revealed on social media that he would be hosting the awards, prompting speculation about who would join him on stage.

The surprise continued when Cassper arrived at the 5 Drive studio carrying a sealed envelope containing the identity of his co-host.

He handed the envelope to Zanele Potelwa and asked her to read it live on air. As she announced, “Your hosts for the 2026 SAMAs are Cassper Nyovest and… Zanele Potelwa,” she was left stunned and initially believed it was a prank.

Cassper encouraged her to call her manager, who confirmed the news live on air, sparking celebrations in the studio and across social media.

Cassper looks forward to hosting

“I’m very excited to be reuniting with the SAMAs in such an incredible way,” said Cassper.

“It’s an honour to follow in the footsteps of legends who have hosted this stage before. I’m also looking forward to working with Zanele. Together, I believe we’ll create a hosting experience that people will remember for years to come.”

SAMA32 will mark the award-winning rapper’s first time hosting South Africa’s biggest music awards.

An emotional Zanele described the opportunity as a dream come true.

At 32, Zanele has built a successful career as one of South Africa’s leading broadcasters. As host of 5 Drive on 5FM and a familiar television personality, she is known for her energetic presenting style and strong connection with audiences.

SAMA32 celebrates its Homecoming Edition

SAMA32 spokesperson Unathi Gwanya said the hosting duo perfectly reflects this year’s “Homecoming Edition” theme.

“Cassper Nyovest is the ideal person to usher in the Homecoming Edition as a proud son of the North West, while Zanele Potelwa embodies the spirit of ‘The Future Sounds Like Now Now.’ Together, they represent the celebration of South African music, heritage and its exciting future.”
