The Cape’s favourite natural spectacle is back. From 1 August to 30 September 2025, West Coast National Park will once again open its Postberg section to the public, inviting locals and tourists alike to witness the dazzling explosion of wildflowers that transforms the reserve each spring.
This short-lived spectacle, which typically peaks between mid-August and mid-September, draws thousands of visitors each year. In fact, August 2024 alone saw more than 23,400 flower-chasers stream through the gates. SANParks is already urging visitors to plan smartly: head out on sunny weekdays for the best views (and fewer queues) as the blooms open widest under bright skies.

Adding to the experience, the park has shaken up its dining options this year. With the Geelbek Restaurant temporarily closed for maintenance, a line-up of food trucks will be stationed at Geelbek, Tsaarsbank, and Preekstoel—ensuring picnics and flower-watching are fuelled by more than just snacks from the boot.

For those keen to dive deeper, the SANParks Honorary Rangers have curated guides to elevate the experience:
The much-loved Spring Flowers booklet, available at the Postberg gate.
A brand-new West Coast Birding Booklet, perfect for spotting feathered friends.
A playful Adventure with Captain Gannet booklet to keep little explorers entertained.
Both new releases are on sale at Geelbek Info Centre, select local outlets, and park gates during the season.
