Official Public Opening of South Africa’s 1st Television Museum in Cape Town on First Thursday

The Western Cape Government, Hisense SA and the SA Sendinggestig Museum are excited to invite members of the media to the public opening of South Africa’s very first Tevolution Museum in Cape Town, tomorrow evening. 

The opening of the museum to members of the public will take place on First Thursdays, this week. Hisense SA executives, and the Chairperson of the Sendinggestig Museum, Ron Martin, will be available for interviews at the event. The details of the public opening are provided below:

  • Date: Thursday 5th December 2024
  • Time: 18:30 – 21:00
  • Location: 40 Long Street, Cape Town

The museum will have the following features and sections on display for journalists to engage with on First Thursdays: 

  • A real-life evolution of television throughout the ages;
  • A gaming display with a giant 110-inch UX screen as its centrepiece (one of the largest TVs on the market in South Africa today, which Hisense SA’s Atlantis factory manufactures);
  • A collaboration with Cape Town’s Academy of Digital Arts, a showcase of projects by final-year students in a curated Digital Art Gallery;
  • A futuristic Laser Cinematic Room with a Laser TV; and,
  • A high-tech exhibition featuring several objects, including a touch-sensitive, stringless harp. 

There will be opportunities for interviews ahead of, during and after the opening. Members of the media can contact Natalie Boyd to secure their attendance, or any media interviews, up until and immediately following opening, on Thursday 5 December 2024.
