The South Africa national rugby sevens team ended their long wait for Hong Kong success with a commanding victory, beating Argentina national rugby sevens team 35-7 in the 2026 final.

The win marks the Blitzboks’ first Hong Kong title since the inception of the HSBC SVNS Series and confirms their dominance on the global sevens stage.

What happened in the Hong Kong Sevens final

South Africa delivered a clinical performance, scoring five tries to Argentina’s one.

Selvyn Davids led the charge with two tries, while all five conversions were successfully kicked in a near-perfect display.

Tristan Leyds opened the scoring with a 70-metre effort and later controlled the tempo of the match, earning Player of the Final honours.

Despite a response from Santino Zangara, Argentina struggled to contain South Africa’s pace and structure.

A dominant performance from start to finish

The Blitzboks controlled the match from the opening minutes and never allowed Argentina back into the contest.

Second-half tries from Quewin Nortje, Ronald Brown and Jayden Nell sealed the result.
