Air Zimbabwe Resumes Direct Harare to London Flights After 14 Years

Air Zimbabwe has officially resumed direct flights between Harare and London Gatwick, restoring the route for the first time in 14 years.

The service reconnects Zimbabwe with the United Kingdom through a non-stop overnight flight operating three times a week.

Flights operated through leasing agreement

As Air Zimbabwe remains restricted from operating its own aircraft into the United Kingdom and European Union under current safety blacklist rules, the route is being operated through a wet-lease (ACMI) agreement.

Spanish airline Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas is operating the flights using a 302-seat Airbus A330-300, while Air Zimbabwe retains commercial control of the route, including ticket sales.

Flight schedule

The Harare to London Gatwick service operates three times a week.

Harare (HRE) to London Gatwick (LGW):

• Sundays
• Wednesdays
• Fridays

London Gatwick (LGW) to Harare (HRE):

• Mondays
• Thursdays
• Saturdays

The flights operate from Gatwick Airport’s South Terminal, with a non-stop flight time of approximately 10 hours and 30 minutes.

Cabin options and fares

The Airbus A330-300 is configured with two cabin classes, offering 30 Business Class seats and 272 Economy Class seats.

Economy Class

• One-way fares from US$495 (£490)
• Return fares from US$900 (£675)
• Two checked bags of up to 23 kilograms each
• One cabin bag of up to 8 kilograms

Business Class

• Fares vary depending on the travel date
• Two checked bags of up to 32 kilograms each
• One cabin bag of up to 8 kilograms
