Adrian Steyn is expanding his television footprint once again, this time stepping into the world of Skemergrond as the mysterious Zander Conradie.
The actor, who is currently winning over viewers as Ryan Peterson in Die Toring, will officially make his debut in Skemergrond on 27 May 2026 on kykNET & kie.
For Steyn, starring in two major television productions at the same time marks a major career milestone.
Adrian Steyn opens up about balancing two kykNET dramas
Although both series are currently airing simultaneously, Steyn says the filming schedules fortunately did not overlap completely.
“Although the two series are now airing simultaneously, I fortunately finished filming Die Toring about two months before starting on Skemergrond,” he says.
“Otherwise it would have been rough. I see this entire season of my life as nothing but a blessing.”
The actor added that he feels grateful not only to be working consistently, but also to have the opportunity to portray two completely different characters within such a short space of time.

What viewers can expect from Zander Conradie
While Steyn is keeping many details about his new role under wraps, he did reveal that Zander Conradie is far from a typical television farmer.
“He’s a farmer,” Steyn says with a laugh, “and a farmer always makes a plan.”
According to the actor, the character is both a farmer and a lawyer, a combination he describes as “quite interesting”.
He summed up Zander in three words:
- Passionate
- Brave
- Full of integrity
Die Toring and Skemergrond offer very different experiences
Steyn says both productions have their own distinct atmosphere despite being part of the broader kykNET family.
One of the biggest differences was the filming style of Die Toring, which involved constant location changes and outdoor-heavy shoots.
“Every production has its own uniqueness, but what I enjoy most are the people I work with,” he explains.
His Die Toring character, Ryan Peterson, also pushed him creatively.
“Ryan was more difficult to approach because he finds himself in a high-risk, high-reward environment that I had to familiarise myself with,” he says.
Not Adrian Steyn’s first double television role
This is not the first time Steyn has appeared in multiple television productions at once.
Viewers previously saw him appearing simultaneously in:
- 7de Laan
- Nikiwe
He has also featured in productions including:
- Getroud met Rugby
- Wyfie
Adrian Steyn celebrated milestone birthday on set
Despite the demanding filming schedule, Steyn says there were also memorable moments behind the scenes, including celebrating his 30th birthday while filming Die Toring.
“Even though I worked the entire day, they made it incredibly special,” he says.
