Tropika Island Of Treasure Season 12 has officially begun on Réunion Island, with eight celebrities choosing the Smoooth fans who will compete alongside them.

The season premiere saw contestants tackle three intense rounds of speed dating, but this was no ordinary meet-and-greet.

Instead, the celebrities and consumer contestants faced physical and mental challenges designed to test their endurance, strategic thinking and ability to work together.

After a series of micro-challenges and chemistry checks, the eight official teams were confirmed.

• Nadia Nakai and Andile Khuluse

• Wiseman Mncube and Ashay Sewlall

The opening challenges gave contestants an opportunity to assess their potential partners’ resilience, athletic ability and teamwork before making their final selections.

With the pairings now confirmed, the competition for the treasure is underway.
