Winnie Ntshaba and Jo-Anne Reyneke return to Generations – The Legacy

Two familiar faces are heading back to Generations – The Legacy.

SABC1 has announced the return of acclaimed actresses Winnie Ntshaba and Jo-Anne Reyneke, who will reprise their popular roles as Khethiwe Buthelezi and Refilwe Nkaba.

Their return brings unfinished business, complicated relationships and plenty of drama back to the long-running Mzansi soapie.

With Khethiwe fighting to rebuild her life and Refilwe arriving with plans of her own, both characters have plenty at stake.

Winnie Ntshaba returns as Khethiwe Buthelezi

Ntshaba steps back into the role of Khethiwe, a character audiences first met as a timid, naive and conservative village girl.

Khethiwe defied expectations to become a successful and glamorous entrepreneur and the face of La Chocolata.

But her story is far from over.

She returns at a difficult crossroads. The money she received following Khaphela’s death is almost gone, while Sara has taken her child.

Determined to rebuild her life, Khethiwe turns to an old friend for help, but her plans soon begin to unravel.

Ambitious, resourceful and determined to reclaim the life she believes she deserves, Khethiwe is prepared to take risks.

Behind that confidence, however, remains a vulnerable woman who is susceptible to manipulation and toxic relationships.

“Returning to Generations is more than an honour, it feels like a full-circle moment,” says Ntshaba. “This is the show that introduced me to television and became the foundation of a career that has allowed me to step into many different worlds.”

Ntshaba added that Khethiwe remains “a very special part” of her journey and described returning to the character as both nostalgic and exciting.

Jo-Anne Reyneke is back as Refilwe Nkaba

Reyneke also returns as Refilwe, the intelligent and ambitious daughter of politically connected powerbroker Walter Nkaba.

Their relationship remains complicated, with Walter often using his daughter to further his own agenda.

Refilwe, however, is nobody’s pawn.

Smart, charming and ruthless, she is determined to establish an identity beyond her influential family.

Her experiences have also left her questioning whether people are drawn to her for who she is or because of her wealth and surname.

Now Refilwe is back with a plan and ready to make her mark.

“I was beyond honoured to get the call from the production of Generations,” Reyneke says, adding that being invited back is a major compliment.

With Khethiwe trying to rebuild her life and Refilwe determined to reclaim her power, viewers can expect explosive confrontations, unexpected alliances, complicated relationships and scandal.

And with both women returning with something to prove, their arrival promises to shake things up.
