461

Television presenter Jeremy Clarkson has revealed that he has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer.

The 66-year-old shared the news during the final episodes of the fifth season of Clarkson’s Farm, explaining that the cancer was detected at an early stage.

Cancer caught early

Clarkson said he received the diagnosis following a biopsy and described the cancer as “aggressive”.

However, he stressed that it had been identified at a very early stage, improving the prospects for treatment.

Initial treatment

According to Clarkson, he underwent an initial procedure in which approximately 10% of his prostate was removed using ultrasound technology.

The treatment formed part of efforts to address the cancer soon after it was discovered.

Hospital setback

The season concludes with Clarkson speaking from a hospital bed, where he revealed that part of his follow-up treatment had not gone according to plan.

He told viewers that complications meant he would need to remain in hospital for a period of time.

Looking ahead

Addressing fans and the future of the series, Clarkson reflected on what lies ahead.

“If this is all successful, I’ll see you for season six. And if it isn’t, I won’t,” he said.

The comments have prompted an outpouring of support from viewers following the announcement.
