Steenberg Spa Welcomes Summer with a New Menu and Michelin Recognition

218

As summer unfolds in the Constantia Valley, Steenberg Spa invites guests to reconnect with nature, serenity, and self. The Spa has launched a new summer menu inspired by the natural rhythms of the season, celebrating the restorative simplicity of the earth and its healing energies.

Adding to the celebration, the Michelin Guide has awarded Steenberg Hotel & Spa one Michelin Key in the “Very Special Stay” category — a prestigious accolade marking excellence in design, service and guest experience. This is the first time Michelin Keys have been awarded in Africa, positioning Steenberg among the continent’s most distinguished hospitality destinations.

“Steenberg’s Michelin Key is a testament to the dedication of our entire team,” says Catherine Schulze, Managing Director of Steenberg Hotel & Spa. “From the vineyards to the spa gardens, every detail reflects our commitment to offering guests a sanctuary of calm and connection.”

A Summer Menu Inspired by Nature

“Our inspiration this season comes from a return to simplicity,” says Monique Lagorie, Steenberg Spa Manager. “We believe wellness begins with connection — to oneself, to others and to nature.”

The summer menu embraces Steenberg’s ethos of natural restoration:

  • Treatments are offered outdoors in the Secret and Scented Gardens, where the sounds, scents and stillness of nature form part of the wellness journey.
  • Hydration, circulation, and renewal are central themes, aligning treatments with the body’s seasonal needs.

Introducing ila: Grounded Luxury

This season highlights ila, an organic wellness brand known for its purity and vibrational healing properties. Meaning “Mother Earth,” ila uses wild-harvested botanicals and minerals to nourish both skin and spirit.

Featured ila Treatments

  • Kundalini Back Therapy – Balances the nervous system, releases tension and restores emotional harmony.
  • Ananda Facial – Stimulates the skin’s natural glow with marma massage and green clay to reduce inflammation.
  • Prana Vitality Massage – Detoxifies, revitalises and boosts energy flow throughout the body.

“Our partnership with ila allows guests to experience what we call ‘grounded luxury’ — sensory, emotional and deeply restorative,” says Lagorie.

Seasonal Signatures with a South African Essence

Signature experiences such as Scented Bliss, Romantic Escape, Soulful Decadence, and Being in Balance combine body and facial therapies in tranquil outdoor settings. Treatments are designed to prepare the skin and body for summer, encouraging guests to let go of heaviness and step into the season with clarity and renewed energy.

The Thermal Suite Experience

Anchoring the menu is Steenberg Spa’s new Thermal Suite, an outdoor ritual inspired by Finnish sauna culture. Guests move between hot and cold therapies — from the dry sauna to the Nordic ice bucket shower, followed by an ice bath or the heated vitality pool.

“The Thermal Suite is a journey of contrasts,” says Lagorie. “The heat soothes and detoxifies while the cold invigorates and renews.”

  • Complimentary access is included with treatments valued at R2 000 or more.
  • Hotel guests enjoy full access during their stay.

A Sanctuary of Place and Presence

Steenberg’s philosophy of wellbeing is intimately connected to its sense of place. Surrounded by vineyards, mountains and gardens, guests can:

  • Relax at The Pool House
  • Sip bespoke cocktails
  • Walk through sculpture-dotted gardens
  • Enjoy wine tastings and seasonal dining across the estate

“Whether enjoying a glass of Sauvignon Blanc overlooking the vines or a massage in the gardens, there is a shared essence of calm, balance and timeless tranquillity,” says Lagorie.

A Call to Reconnect

Steenberg Spa’s new summer menu is more than a collection of treatments — it is an invitation.

“This summer, we invite guests to embrace the clarity that comes with change,” says Lagorie. “The new menu is a reminder to pause, breathe and return to what feels natural.”

A celebration of nature, luxury and inner restoration — Steenberg Spa continues to define wellness as a pathway back to self.
