Loeries Creative Week 2025: Cape Town Set to Host Africa’s Biggest Celebration of Creativity

1.2k

The countdown is on as Loeries Creative Week returns to Cape Town from 5 to 10 October 2025. This internationally renowned festival brings together the best in brand communication from across Africa and the Middle East, with more entries and delegates expected than ever before.

For 47 years, the Loerie Awards have celebrated creativity and excellence in advertising and design. This year’s programme goes beyond recognition, with expos, workshops, masterclasses, and a focus on sustainability, culminating in two unforgettable awards evenings.

The Great Hunger Theme

The 2025 theme, “The Great Hunger,” reflects the industry’s drive to create truly iconic work. As Loeries CEO Preetesh Sewraj explains: “It speaks to a hunger that drives excellence and pushes boundaries in the region’s creative landscape.”

This year, the awards attracted 2,784 entries from 13 countries, judged by 194 experts across 14 subcategories and 9 craft categories. New categories — Comedic Impact, New Launch Campaign, Sonic Branding, and Marketing Impact Award — highlight the evolving scope of creative excellence.

The Jury Presidents

A distinguished panel of international Jury Presidents brings global expertise to the judging process. Among them are:

  • Mike Dubrick (Rethink, Canada)
  • Katja Thielen (Together Design, UK)
  • Merlee Jayme (Jaymee Headquarters, Philippines)
  • Prasoon Joshi (McCann APAC, India)
  • Matthew Bull (Solounion, New York)

Their presence ensures rigorous and insightful evaluation.

A Week of Exchange and Inspiration

Cape Town will buzz with activity throughout the week. Highlights include:

  • Expos at The Homecoming Centre (8–10 October), including the popular Student Expo.
  • Masterclasses offering learning, networking, and trend-spotting opportunities.
  • The International Seminar, where global thought leaders share reflections on creativity and innovation.

Awards and After-Party

The celebrations peak with the two awards evenings on 9 and 10 October, followed by the official after-party at Cabo Beach Club, featuring leading South African talent with global recognition.

Powered by Partnerships

Loeries Creative Week is made possible through collaboration with key partners, including the City of Cape Town, SABC, SAB, Primedia, TikTok for Business, Heineken, eMedia, and Gearhouse, alongside supporters like Unilever, Investec, Aleph, and Publicis Groupe Africa. Together, they spotlight the importance of creativity in driving cultural and economic impact.
