YoungstaCPT Drops Limited-Edition Reebok Sneaker: A Cape Town Story in Every Step

1.6k

Oh-Two-1 is more than a sneaker. It’s heritage, hustle, and hometown pride – signed, sealed, and stamped 021.

South African hip-hop icon, storyteller, and entrepreneur YoungstaCPT is rewriting the sneaker game with the launch of his first-ever signature Reebok collaboration: the Oh-Two-1—a limited-edition drop deeply rooted in Cape Town identity, street culture, and the relentless pursuit of legacy.

Named after Cape Town’s area code, 021, the Oh-Two-1 is not simply footwear. It’s a walking archive. A cultural mixtape. A tribute to the Cape Flats and every voice, sound, and story that shaped Youngsta’s journey.

Designed by YoungstaCPT in collaboration with Capetonian visual artist Ross Solomon, the sneaker threads together symbols of Cape Town life: Metrorail trains, cassette tapes, arcade buttons, washing lines, taxis, spray cans and even the legendary Cape Flats Gatsby. Each panel is intentional. Each detail speaks to heritage.

“Reebok has always been that sneaker every kid in the hood wanted,” says YoungstaCPT. “Before the music, this brand represented us. This collab is about building legacy. It’s about standing up and saying: this is who we are, and we deserve our place in the world.”

The Sneaker: Reebok Pump OmniZone Reimagined

The Oh-Two-1 is built on the Reebok Pump OmniZone silhouette – a global ’90s streetwear icon, reinterpreted with a South African attitude.

Key Design Features

  • Cape Town Sunrise/Sunset Fade: Yellow-orange gradient inspired by Table Mountain skies.
  • Rugged outsole: Reflects the pavements, highways and beaten paths of the city.
  • Hand-drawn graphics: Every illustration is original and symbolic of life in the Cape Flats.
  • Premium materials & detailing: Leather, stitching and sole designed for collectors and culture-shapers.

Only 500 pairs exist. Each sneaker is signed, numbered and packaged with a custom sleeve and sticker sheet celebrating Youngsta’s musical journey and mixtape legacy.

Cape Town Energy. Global Impact.

This sneaker is the third in Reebok South Africa’s Pure Mzansi Gold series, following collaborations with South African legends, including the late AKA. The Oh-Two-1 is already being called the most valuable local sneaker collab in Reebok history.

Where to Cop It:

  • Official Drop Date: Friday, 31 October
  • Retail Price: R3,999
  • Available at: Reebok Canal Walk, Sportscene, Studio88, Shelflife, Sneaker District, Y?Gen and Reebok.co.za

Joburg sneakerheads can join the live launch with YoungstaCPT at Sneaker District, Melrose Arch this Friday. Expect exclusives, interactive installations, and mixtape-style storytelling from Youngsta himself.

“YoungstaCPT embodies the Reebok attitude,” says PJ Morilly from Reebok South Africa. “He’s bold, original, and grounded in the streets – exactly what this partnership is about.”

This Is More Than a Sneaker Drop. It’s a Claim to Culture.

The Oh-Two-1 is not about hype alone – it’s about ownership, representation, and storytelling through design.

As Youngsta says, “This sneaker is for everyone who built something out of nothing. It’s proof that our stories deserve centre stage.”
