Up The Creek 2027 announces first artists for February festival

Up The Creek Music Festival will return to the banks of the Breede River from 11 to 14 February 2027.

More than 50 artists will perform across four stages during the four-day outdoor music festival.

The first artist announcement includes Arno Carstens, AKING, BCUC, Barto and Keanan Eksteen, with further performers and festival additions still to follow.

Four days of music beside the Breede River

Up The Creek combines live performances with camping, river activities, food and outdoor entertainment.

Festival-goers spend the weekend floating on the river, swimming at sunrise, watching live performances and camping near the festival grounds.

The 2027 edition follows the festival’s return in 2026 and aims to bring established performers and newer acts together across four stages.

First Up The Creek 2027 artists announced

South African rock artist Arno Carstens leads the first group of confirmed performers.

More artists will be announced before the festival.

More than three decades at the Breede River

Up The Creek has taken place beside the Breede River since 1990.

The annual festival has attracted generations of visitors who return for its music, camping and river activities.

The programme also gives festival-goers opportunities to hear new performers alongside established South African artists.

Festival focuses on music and community

Festival Director Caitlin Lotter said the team works to keep each edition familiar while introducing new elements.

“Although live music is our core identity, Up The Creek has always been about so much more than just the music. There is a sense of community, groups of Creekers making the annual pilgrimage back to the Breede, the sense of discovery and switching off from reality,” she says.

The festival will welcome returning Creekers and first-time visitors for four days of performances and outdoor activities.
