Tracey Lange Leads Rescue of BT Football Academy Team from Portugal

1.7k

Tracey Lange, the much-loved Kfm 94.5 host, has once again demonstrated the incredible power of community by leading efforts to bring home 25 young soccer players and their coaches from Kraaifontein’s BT Football Academy, who were stranded in Portugal.

Her swift action and determination became a shining example of South African compassion and resilience.

The Stranded Soccer Stars

The team, comprising players aged 13 to 18, had travelled to Spain to compete in the renowned Donosti Cup in San Sebastian.

However, their return was thrown into disarray when it was discovered that no flights had been booked despite families having invested significant amounts into the tour.

Rallying Support in Record Time

Recognising the urgency, Tracey took to social media and her Kfm 94.5 platform to rally support. Within just 24 hours, the necessary funds were raised, and flights were booked.

Gratitude and Community Spirit

“This experience serves as a powerful reminder of the strength of community and those who step up without hesitation,” said Tracey.

She extended heartfelt gratitude to key individuals and organisations, including Pastors Dane and Tersia Mesane of Christ Culture Church, Melisha Moodley, Ceu Dias, and TAAG Airlines representatives Nicole Taylor and Suzanna Ribeiro.

A Station That Cares

Station Manager Hennie Myburgh praised Tracey’s actions, saying, “Tracey’s commitment to uplifting our communities is truly inspiring. Her efforts epitomise Kfm 94.5’s dedication to making a difference.”
