South Africa’s first multi-graded hotel remains unchanged in service and standards
With immediate effect, The Maslow Time Square has officially been renamed Time Square Hotel. The rebrand is a strategic move to strengthen the property’s identity and align guest expectations more clearly, while ownership, management, staff and service standards remain exactly the same.
“While our name is changing, guests can be assured that our ownership, management, and commitment to delivering exceptional service remain exactly the same,” says Ruben Gooranah, General Manager of Time Square Hotel.
All existing bookings, contracts and negotiated rates continue uninterrupted. The change applies only to branding and communication.
A South African first in hotel grading
What sets Time Square Hotel apart remains firmly in place. The property is South Africa’s first hotel to offer three distinct star gradings under one roof, officially recognised by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa.
Guests can choose between three-star, four-star or five-star accommodation within the same building, allowing flexibility across budgets, travel needs and length of stay, without compromising on consistent service levels.

Part of Gauteng’s largest entertainment destination
Time Square Hotel forms part of Sun International’s largest gaming, leisure and entertainment precinct in Gauteng. The destination includes a world-class casino, hotel, multi-purpose arena and a wide range of retail and dining options.
Located directly opposite Menlyn Maine Mall, the precinct is ideally positioned for business and leisure travellers alike.
Families are well catered for with The Magic Company arcade, featuring car racing games, AR snipers and ten-pin bowling with UV lighting, as well as Tick Tocks Crèche, which offers supervised childcare.

Live entertainment and major events
The SunBet Arena, together with Time Square Hotel, continues to attract international and local talent. Recent and upcoming performances include Kenny G in 2025, Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance in 2025, Bryan Adams in 2026 and UB40 in 2026, reinforcing the destination’s status as a major entertainment hub.
Room categories designed for choice and comfort
Time Square Hotel offers 238 contemporary rooms, including 10 suites. The difference between room categories lies in size, design and finishes, while service levels remain consistent across all grades.
“The innovative concept allows travellers to tailor their accommodation to suit both their needs and budget,” says Lesego Kitsa, Rooms Division Manager.
Room options include:
• Three-star Foundation Rooms (24m²) with twin or queen beds, a work desk and a bathroom with a shower, ideal for short stays.
• Four-star Median Rooms (27m²) offering twin or king beds, a work desk, coffee machine and bathroom with shower, suited to longer stays or families.
• Five-star Zenith Level Rooms (36m²) featuring twin or king beds, a desk, coffee machine and a separate bath and shower for a more luxurious experience.
Exclusive Zenith Level benefits
Guests staying on the Zenith Level enjoy additional privileges, including access to a premium breakfast buffet in the 12th-floor Luminary Lounge, which offers panoramic city views.
Additional facilities include Solis Bar with a splash pool and sunset vistas, as well as a fully equipped 24-hour gym offering 360-degree views of Menlyn and Pretoria.
Dynamic pricing with consistent service
The hotel operates on a dynamic pricing model, starting with bed-and-breakfast options for three-star graded rooms. Despite the tiered room offering, all guests receive the same high standard of service across the property.
The Maslow Hotel in Sandton, also part of the Sun International portfolio, remains unchanged.
