The Greenhouse Expands Its Daytime Dining Experience

The Greenhouse in Sandton unveils a relaxed daytime menu with refined dishes, easy afternoons and a full dining experience from lunch to late.

The Greenhouse in Sandton has introduced a new daytime menu that blends relaxed dining with the refined touch inherited from its Shortmarket Club roots. The Shortmarket Club concept joined The Greenhouse earlier this year and continues to shape its commitment to detail, layered flavours and elegant presentation.
The difference now is the mood. It is lighter, warmer and designed for leisurely afternoons.

A Menu Built for Every Appetite

Head Chef Courtney Knipe says the menu needed variety so guests feel included. You will find vegan dishes, vegetarian options and meat plates. The approach is skilled, but the tone is casual.

The new lunch menu ranges from bright, fresh plates to rich comfort dishes. Highlights include:
• Sumac-grilled chicken thighs with corn cream and grilled peaches.
• Lobster mac and cheese with Gruyère sauce and garlic and herb crumbs.
• Pan con tomate on toasted brioche.
• The Almond and Blueberry Mess, a dessert of meringue shards, almond mousse, blueberry compote and toasted almonds.

“It’s top-tier food without the stiffness linked to fine dining,” says Daniel Rismani, Head of Operations. “You get quality and technique in a space where you can relax.”

A Space Designed for Slow Afternoons

The courtyard sets the tone for daytime dining. Sunlight moves across black-and-white tiles. Rattan pendants hang above lush greenery. Curved sofas invite long, lingering lunches.

Inside, deep booths sit under cascades of foliage and soft butterfly details. It is ideal for date lunches, business meetings or a leisurely catch-up with cocktails. Popular long-pour drinks include the Henny Pot and the G Pot, both designed for unhurried afternoons.

The Supper Club Lives On After Dark

As evening arrives, The Greenhouse returns to its role as Joburg’s first authentic supper club. The space seats 180 guests. VIP Butterfly Booths and green velvet booths face a bar where DJs play deep house, hip hop and upbeat sets.

Founder Luke Dakers says the aim is to shift public perception. “People know the nightlife. They don’t always think of The Greenhouse for afternoon drinks or a great meal. We want to show the full experience.”

A Full-Day Destination

The Greenhouse now offers a slower tempo by day and its signature energy by night. Arrive for lunch. Stay for drinks. Move into the evening without leaving your seat.

Bookings are open for corporate events and celebrations.
Lunch is served from 12 pm, Thursday to Saturday.

The Greenhouse Restaurant & Bar is at 24 Central, 6 Gwen Lane and Fredman Drive, Sandton.
