Volvo launches the all-electric EX30 Cross Country, blending luxury and adventure

Volvo Car South Africa has unveiled an exciting addition to its all-electric lineup with the upcoming EX30 Cross Country. This innovative seven-seater is set to take the adventure-seeking market by storm, delivering a rugged design coupled with the brand’s signature refinement. Following the local release of the range-topping EX90, the interest surrounding the EX30’s rugged derivative is palpable, especially for eco-conscious travellers.

The EX30 Cross Country channels the adventurous spirit that first emerged with the Cross-Country name back in 1997, originally introduced with the V70. Combining enhanced off-road capabilities with Volvo’s renowned aesthetics, the EX30 Cross Country is designed for those ready to venture beyond city limits. The vehicle’s increased ride height offers improved ground clearance, ideal for navigating rough terrains.

Visual distinctiveness is a hallmark of the EX30 Cross Country. The introduction of 19-inch five-spoke alloy wheels with a Matte Graphite finish, complemented by contrasting Matte Black aero inserts, enhances its rugged aesthetic. Notably, the front shield and boot lid are adorned in a unique dark hue, while the front fascia features exclusive artwork that showcases the Kebnekaise mountain range in Arctic Sweden, reaffirming Volvo’s commitment to unique styling.

Further enhancements include muscular skid plates and bold wheel arch extensions, resulting in a more chiselled look that appeals to adventure enthusiasts. Inside, the EX30 Cross Country is swathed in luxury, exclusively available in the Ultra Twin Performance variant for South African consumers. With features such as a heated steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, adjustable power front seats, and over 15 driver assistance technologies, it caters to the modern driver’s convenience and safety needs.

For the environmentally conscious adventurer, the EX30 Cross Country boasts an impressive range of 427 km, empowering drivers to explore further. Rapid charging capabilities allow the vehicle to recharge from 10% to 80% in a swift 26 minutes, making longer journeys as hassle-free as possible. With standard all-wheel drive, it provides maximum traction and stability on loose surfaces, further broadening its appeal in South Africa’s diverse driving conditions.

As part of their larger plan, Volvo aims for battery-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles to constitute nearly all global sales by 2030, reiterating its status as a leader in the electrification of the automotive market.

Pricing and specific configurations for the EX30 Cross Country will be disclosed closer to its South African launch later this year, with anticipation mounting for what promises to be a remarkable addition to the EV landscape.
