In an electrifying evening that showcased the best of children’s entertainment, South African music sensation Tyla took centre stage at the 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. Not only did she host the iconic event held at Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar, but she also clinched the coveted Favourite Global Music Star (Africa) award, marking a significant milestone in her blossoming career.

The 23-year-old, known for her chart-topping hit “Water” and trendsetting fashion, captivated the audience with her vibrant energy and charm. Tyla’s debut as the host of a major international awards show added an extra layer of excitement to the already thrilling night, filled with surprises, spectacular performances, and, of course, the signature green slime that Nickelodeon is famous for.

As the evening progressed, Tyla delivered high-energy performances that perfectly set the mood for the event, engaging the young audience and fans watching from around the globe. When her name was revealed as the winner of the Favourite Global Music Star (Africa) category, the excitement in the air was palpable.

Tyla took to the stage to accept her eye-catching blimp-shaped trophy, radiating enthusiasm and gratitude. “Thank you guys so much. Literally this has been so fun. I’m so happy I came to party with you guys. This was the best party ever,” she exclaimed to a crowd of ecstatic fans who cheered her on.

But a quintessential moment of the Kids’ Choice Awards is never complete without a healthy dose of slime, and Tyla was not spared. Embracing the playful spirit of the night, she confidently held her award aloft and, with a cheeky “Just do it,” braced herself before being doused in the iconic green goo, much to the delight of the audience.

The night was a celebration of talent, creativity, and fun, perfectly reflecting the charm of Nickelodeon’s annual awards show. Tyla’s impressive double role as both host and winner cements her position in the global entertainment landscape while highlighting the thriving African music scene that continues to gain recognition worldwide.
