Toyota triumphs as South Africa’s top automotive brand at consumer awards

59

Toyota has again solidified its dominance in the South African automotive landscape, clinching the esteemed Brand of the Year title at the 2024/25 Cars.co.za Consumer Awards.

This achievement marks a record-breaking fifth win for the company, highlighting its unwavering commitment to quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction that resonates deeply with South African consumers.

In addition to this prestigious accolade, Toyota excelled in three prominent product categories, further showcasing its diverse and robust line up:

Corolla Cross 1.8 Hybrid XR – Winner of the Compact Family Car category

Urban Cruiser 1.5 XR Auto – Winner of the Budget Crossover category

Hilux 2.4 GD-6 Raider 4×4 Auto – Winner of the Leisure Double Cab category

Notably, this victory for the Hilux and Corolla Cross is particularly significant. It marks their second triumph in their respective categories, reinforcing these models as firm favourites among South African motorists.

Last year, Toyota shared the prestigious Brand of the Year title with its sister brand, Lexus. This year, Lexus saw its NX 450+ and RX 450+ models narrowly miss out on victory by securing second place in their respective categories, underscoring the competitive nature of the awards.

The Brand of the Year award is distinguished from product categories, which are determined through a combination of expert judges’ evaluations and consumer feedback. The sole basis for the Brand of the Year recognition is robust market data and consumer sentiment, taking into account sales figures, after-sales service performance, and the overall brand perception among consumers.

Toyota’s impressive track record in the Cars.co.za Consumer Awards has established it as the most decorated brand in the programme’s history, having previously won the Brand of the Year title in 2015/16, 2018/19, 2020/21, and 2023/24.

Expressing gratitude for this latest accolade, Glenn Crompton, Vice President of Marketing at Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM), stated, “We are incredibly honoured to once again be recognised as South Africa’s leading automotive brand. This award is a testament to the trust and loyalty of our customers, as well as the dedication of our employees and dealer network. Thank you for making Toyota the brand of choice in South Africa.”
