The countdown has begun for motorsport enthusiasts as the 2025 iLamuna Series gears up to launch three exhilarating endurance races over the coming months, designed to celebrate creativity, teamwork, and the undeniable spirit of racing.

This year marks a significant milestone for the series, particularly the highly anticipated iLamuna 24hr, which will celebrate its fifth anniversary. To honour this landmark occasion, a themed race weekend is being planned that promises not just competition but a lively party atmosphere right on the track.

In addition to the 24-hour festivities, the series is introducing the new iLamuna Championship. This thrilling competition will award points to drivers and teams at each of the three events, culminating in the crowning of the champions at the culminating 24-hour event in November.

Mischief Garage 9hr – April 25-26, 2025, Killarney Raceway, Cape Town

VMS Paint 9hr – May 23-24, 2025, Redstar Raceway, Johannesburg

The iLamuna Series has earned a reputation as South Africa’s most thrilling and accessible endurance racing event, emphasising that motorsport can be enjoyed without the hefty price tag. It’s a place where ‘big gees’ reign over budgets and where ordinary cars transformed into high-performance racers take to the track.

With vehicles built for R55,000 or less, teams are encouraged to get creative, turning everyday cars into track-ready machines prepared for fierce competition. “Racing doesn’t have to be reserved for the elite” is the ethos that drives iLamuna, welcoming seasoned racers and novices alike to participate in the exhilarating euphoria of endurance racing.

As part of the new championship format, teams will compete for points at each race, with the top ten finishers in each class earning recognition in the overall standings. The champions will be revealed at the grand finale in November, we can surely expect fierce rivalries and unforgettable moments as the series unfolds.

Mark Castel, Head of the iLamuna Series, captures the essence of this dynamic racing community: “What started as a wild idea has grown into the biggest grassroots endurance racing event in Africa. Seeing how much effort, creativity, and passion teams put into this series is incredible. With our new championship format and the 5th anniversary of the 24th, 2025 is set to be our most exciting season yet! iLamuna is about making motorsport fun and accessible for everyone big gees, small budgets, and racing that’s all about the thrill, not the spend.”
