Molo Lounge offers an exciting entertainment option for adults

The Wild Coast Sun has unveiled the Molo Lounge, an entertainment venue for adults offering a vibrant fusion of traditional and contemporary styles set to the backdrop of the latest music.

The lounge – which takes its name from the Xhosa greeting “Molo,” meaning “hello” or “welcome” – invites guests to experience a warm, lively atmosphere rooted in local traditions, with contemporary features such as LED downlights and backlights.

The latest upgrade comes as Wild Coast Sun was awarded a four-star grading from the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa for both the hotel and the conference and exhibition centre.

“We celebrate our location on the border of the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal provinces by bringing in themes from both Xhosa and Zulu culture across the Resort,” said Wild Coast Sun General Manager Henry Boekhouer. “Molo Lounge is a tribute to the cultural heritage of the Eastern Cape with a modern and stylish design.”

Located in a prime spot within the iconic Wild Coast Sun Resort, Molo Lounge is a 90-seater space that offers a relaxed yet energetic vibe, perfectly suited for both casual gatherings and vibrant nights out. The lounge is open on Friday and Saturday nights, as well as over the holiday periods, making it a must-visit destination for locals and tourists alike.

Fusing tradition with modernity

“Molo Lounge has elements that reflect both tradition and modern flair. The space features striking corrugated roof sheeting, a material that speaks to the humble beginnings of the region and the resilience of its people,” said Green Lemon Designs Managing Director Francois van der Merwe. “The corrugated metal contrasts beautifully with the contemporary lighting design, creating a unique ambiance ready for either amapiano, jazz or dance music.

The lounge features striking imagery of African women carrying water on their heads. “These powerful visuals celebrate the strength and grace of African women and are a common sight throughout the region.

One image carries the symbol of peace, a dove, within its design to commemorate the momentous events of 1994, further connecting the space to the rich history of the country.

An entertainment venue for all occasions

The Molo Lounge is not just a place to unwind, it is a venue full of energy and culture. On Fridays and Saturdays, the lounge transforms into a dynamic nightlife destination, featuring live DJ sets and lounge music that gradually evolves into a fully-fledged nightclub experience. Sundays offer a more relaxed vibe with live jazz performances, perfect for those looking to enjoy a laid-back afternoon in good company.

The Molo Lounge is an ideal venue for both intimate gatherings and larger social events. Whether you’re looking to sip a cocktail, savour a selection of local bites, or immerse yourself in the rhythm of live music, the lounge offers a sophisticated and fun atmosphere for every occasion.

Molo Lounge will be welcomed to the heart of the Resort.
