Live life large with seaside glitz in privacy and style
Upgrades and renovations continue apace at Wild Coast Sun, Sun International’s only beachside resort, which recently completed a R2.5-million refurbishment of five junior and one presidential suite, to ensure they are fit for VIP guests.
The 396-room four-star resort, on the border of KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape, overlooking the Mtamvuna River and the Indian Ocean, offers a tranquil getaway for families and business guests alike.
The design brief to Blacksmith Interior Design was to bring the outdoors inside, using a coastal theme. “We have included black and white artwork and driftwood imagery, and an emerald green colour scheme with accents of golden tones to echo the hues of the sandy beach,” said Ryan Illgner, CEO of Blacksmith Interior Design. “The blue of the sea can be seen in the tones of the carpets, which are custom-woven to remind one of woven baskets made by craftsmen in the area.”
The suites have a “fresh, coastal holiday feel,” said Wild Coast Sun Resort General Manager Peter Tshidi. “Unwind and relax in a Superior Luxury Suite with a balcony while soaking up picturesque views of the Wild Coast. These are true private hideaways, designed to top end standards, to provide the utmost tranquillity. Guests are certain to feel revived and refreshed after a stay,” Tshidi said.
The upgraded presidential suite, with stunning views of the beach below, has one bedroom, lounge area and a six-seater dining room, as well as its own kitchenette. The junior suites have a dining area that offers the ability to enjoy in-room dining.
Local labour in the form of electricians, plumbers and carpenters was used during the two-month long renovations, with more renovations scheduled before year-end.
