Most of us experience dry skin from time to time. While it’s well known that this condition can be caused by environmental factors such as dry weather, there is another cause many of us are unaware of. Bathing and showering can strip your skin of its natural oils – especially if you are using harsh soaps and cleansers.

WHY GO SOAP-FREE?

Traditional soaps are often highly alkaline with an anionic surfactant, which are known to cause skin irritation. The adverse effects of soap, worsened by dry climate and hard water include damage to skin barrier function, increased susceptibility to environmental irritants and antigens, skin irritation with erythema and oedema and a reduction in moisture and smoothness.

An alternative to traditional soaps is glycerine soap. It contains glycerine, a humectant that counters the drying effect of soap and moisturises the skin and is suitable for different skin types, including sensitive skin, eczema and psoriasis.

THE FORMULA TO TACKLE DRY SKIN

Because of their non-irritant formula, Epi-max® Glycerine Bars are suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin prone to dryness, and dry skin associated with conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. Free from artificial colourants, fragrances and sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), they are safe for the whole family to use every day to cleanse, moisturise and hydrate dry skin.

All the ingredients used in our glycerine bars have been carefully researched, tested and selected to gently soothe, calm and hydrate while effectively cleansing the skin and reducing the risk of skin rashes and irritation.

Propylene glycol pulls water into the skin, helping to hydrate and keep skin supple. It also helps other active ingredients penetrate the skin.

Glycerine improves the skin’s barrier function by preventing water loss and keeps the skin hydrated, soft and supple.

Coco glucoside is good at binding dirt, oil and other impurities, making it easy to remove from the skin when using an emollient as a wash, or pre-wash moisturiser. Because it is non-irritating it can be used daily to cleanse and hydrate the skin without clogging the pores.

Elaeis Guineensis/Palm (Kernel) Oil is high in antioxidants, has anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties and accelerates wound healing.
