4 reasons why you should continue to exercise this winter!

272

Winter is that time when a lot of people get sluggish about keeping up with gym, running outside or taking a walk. But this is the time to go hard at it and make sure your health is in good check. Let’s tell you why.

  1. Strengthen your immune system and build endurance

We know it might not be your favourite season to work out, but training in cold weather offers great benefits you might not be aware of. Exercising during the cooler months can strengthen your immune system, helping you fend off the common colds typical of this season.

On top of that, cold-weather training has been proven to boost endurance. Facing more challenging conditions cultivates excellent training habits that can carry over into warmer weather, increasing the likelihood of maintaining your fitness routine year-round. So go for it!

  • Ward off the winter blues

Many of us lose motivation during this time of year. As the days grow darker and colder, we tend to hibernate, feel less energetic, and may even experience a mood dip. One of the best ways to battle these winter blues is to stay physically active. Even if it’s just a few times a week, exercise can significantly boost your mood and well-being. Remember, training is crucial not only for your physical health but also for your mental health.

  • Enjoy the perfect conditions indoors

It is a tough ask to train outdoors when it is cold, dark and wet, but a fitness centre has the perfect conditions to train in all year round – rain, hail or shine. With many people deciding to hibernate for the winter, this is great news for you and your training schedule. You get more attention from instructors and staff and there’s no waiting  to use your favourite machine or equipment. This means you stay more disciplined with your exercise routine and boosts your chances of smashing those fitness goals you set at the start of the year.

  • Kick out winter kilos

We are maintaining that weight off, honey! Winter often brings less physical activity, increased food consumption, and a more inactive and slower lifestyle, which can lead to unwanted weight gain. So, it’s essential to keep exercising, or even ramp up your training routine. A consistent winter workout routine will help you maintain the physique you achieved earlier in the year and ensure you’re ready for that swimsuit season.

Remember what they say,  “Summer bodies are made in Winter”, wink!
