Bvlgari introduces the new Serpenti Cuore 1968 bag to celebrate the Year of the Snake 

A multifaceted symbol, a mystical icon, gifted with the power to embrace change and be constantly reborn. A timeless emblem bridging different cultures from East to West in a rich stratification of meanings, associations and representations: this is Serpenti.   

In 2025, Year of the Snake in the Chinese zodiac, Bvlgari celebrates this emblem of infinite metamorphosis and transformation – one synonymous with Bvlgari – with a new addition to the mesmerizing Serpenti universe: the Serpenti Cuore 1968 bag. As the name outlines, its distinctive shape recalls two halves of a love heart: one formed by the bag’s body, the other by its sinuous snake-shaped golden handle. It is a love-letter, to one of Bvlgari’s most enduring emblems. 

Drawing inspiration from Bvlgari’s rich archives and unparalleled jewelry DNA, the bag’s serpentine metallic handle recalls the famed Bvlgari Serpenti Harlequin jewelry-watch of 1968, an iconic timepiece embellished with multicolored enamels. A source of inspiration behind one of the first collaborations between the Roman Maison and Mary Katrantzou, she continues to explore the multifaceted identity of this Bvlgari icon today in her role as the house’s Creative Director of Leather Goods and Accessories. 

A testament to timeless beauty and superior artisanal mastery, the Serpenti Cuore 1968 bag is crafted in supple calf leather, with a padded curve to accentuate its distinctive shape. This graphic form expresses Bvlgari’s expertise in leather-goods, while the gold-plated brass handle is executed using the complex ‘lost wax’ technique, a deep-rooted jewelry-making tradition. Each scale of enamel decorating the serpent body is an expression of the artisan expertise at the heart of all Bvlgari creations. 

Embodying the transformative and versatile essence of Serpenti, the Serpenti Cuore 1968 offers multiple styling options: a detachable chain strap offers wearers the possibility to transition between pragmatic cross-body and hand-carry, according to occasion. The style proposed in an array of colors – including Feroza Turquoise, Star Rose Pink, Royal Ruby, Perla White and Black, the enameled serpenti matched to the hue of calf leather. The bag is completed by a handle and hypnotic crystal eyes in contrast tones. 

In a special evening, a radiant pavé of crystals animates the Serpenti Cuore 1968 into a sparkling and irresistible jewel in and of itself: here, the sculptural bag is entirely covered by almost 5,000 crystals.  

Alongside the new Serpenti Cuore 1968, Bvlgari presents an exclusive collection of textiles dedicated to the Year of the Snake.  

The key motif of the Capsule Collection mirrors the heart-shape at the core of Cuore – two Bvlgari Serpenti come together to form a love heart while, all around, fireworks and heritage Bvlgari jewels intertwine in a celebration that welcomes the infinite rebirths and positive transformations under the sign of the snake. Reflecting this duality and echoing the artisanship at the very heart of Bvlgari, each scarf is double printed in a complex process, with two shades displayed on each scarf. The collection includes a carré scarf and shelley in pure silk, each available in Black, Royal Ruby or Natural nuances.
