Country music legend Dolly Parton dies aged 80

25

Country music legend Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80.

Parton died on August 25, 2026, with her nephew and longtime head of security, Bryan Seaver, announcing her death on behalf of the Parton family.

Seaver shared the news in a video statement posted to Parton’s official Instagram account.

Her family did not immediately release an official cause of death.

Parton had spoken about recent health struggles

Parton’s death follows recent concerns about her health.

She had told People Magazine that she was dealing with “hard times with my health”.

Parton said she had neglected her own medical needs while caring for her late husband.

Her health struggles had also affected some of her planned public appearances.

Parton previously cancelled a planned Las Vegas concert residency and missed promotional events at her Dollywood theme park following recurring bouts of dizziness and dehydration.

Family losses preceded Dolly Parton’s death

Parton had faced two major family losses before her death.

Her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, died in March 2025.

Her older brother, Coy “Denver” Parton, died in July 2026.

Parton’s death on August 25 was confirmed by her family, with no official cause of death immediately disclosed.
