First look at Deon Meyer’s INVISIBLE ahead of October premiere

The official trailer for INVISIBLE, the highly anticipated conspiracy thriller based on Deon Meyer’s bestselling novel Blood Safari, has been released.

The eight-part series will premiere on M-Net on Wednesday, 14 October, with new episodes airing weekly on Wednesday nights.

INVISIBLE brings together an international and South African cast for a story involving a decades-old conspiracy, corruption and events in the South African Lowveld.

Abbie Cornish and Dougray Scott lead the cast

Australian actress Abbie Cornish, known for Limitless and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, stars alongside Scottish actor Dougray Scott, whose credits include The Hack and The Crow Girl.

The South African cast includes Tim Theron, Tumisho Masha, Frank Rautenbach, Kim Engelbrecht, Chi Mhende and Siv Ngesi.

Jozua Malherbe directs the series, which is written by Will Schneider and Deon Meyer, with additional writing by Amy Jephta.

What is INVISIBLE about?

The series follows bodyguard Martin Dekker and London-based expat Emma Le Roux as they begin uncovering a conspiracy buried for decades in the South African Lowveld.

At the same time, SAPS investigator Colonel Jack Phatudi is closing in on a network of corruption reaching the highest corridors of power.

The story also draws on real events, including the mysterious 1986 plane crash that claimed the life of former Mozambican President Samora Machel.

Producer and star Tim Theron said releasing the trailer marked a major moment for the team behind the series.

“Seeing the trailer finally out in the world is an incredible moment for all of us. We’ve poured years into bringing Deon’s story to the screen, and from the start we wanted to make something of a truly international standard, because our audience deserves nothing less. This trailer is just the first taste of what we’ve created. Mark your calendars for 14 October, you’re not ready.”

For Meyer, who serves as Executive Producer on INVISIBLE, the series brings a story that began on the page into a much larger production.

“It’s a strange and wonderful thing to see a story you wrote alone at a desk turned into something this big. The trailer captures the tension and the landscape beautifully. I can’t wait for South Africa, and the world, to see the rest.”

When does INVISIBLE start on M-Net?

INVISIBLE premieres on M-Net on Wednesday, 14 October, and will air weekly on Wednesday nights.

The eight-part series is produced by Scene23, with Berkeley Media Group and Dugga Boys Productions, in association with Multichoice, a Canal+ Company and ITV Studios.

ITV Studios will distribute the series internationally.
