8

Ten-time Grammy-nominated saxophonist Dave Koz is returning to South Africa in January 2027 for two exclusive live performances in Cape Town and Pretoria.

The contemporary jazz legend will perform alongside special guest vocalist, bassist, and producer Chris Walker. The tour features outdoor picnic staging at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens on Saturday, 23 January 2027, followed by a show at the SunBet Arena at Time Square in Pretoria on Sunday, 24 January 2027.

Legendary Saxophonist Returns to SA Stage

Dave Koz has built an enduring career spanning over three decades, earning a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, twelve Billboard Contemporary Jazz No. 1 albums, and the 2023 Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award. Known for timeless hits like You Make Me Smile and Together Again, Koz has become a staple of contemporary jazz worldwide.

“Being truly one of the most favourite spots on the globe, I simply cannot wait to return to South Africa this January for concerts,” says Koz. “The best audiences in the world can be found in these two cities… and I promise those who come to the show a musical memory for the ages.”

Chris Walker Joins as Special Guest

Joining Koz on stage is acclaimed musician Chris Walker, who spent over 20 years serving as Al Jarreau’s musical director, bassist, and co-vocalist until Jarreau’s passing in 2017. Walker, a New School alumnus who has performed alongside Ornette Coleman, Art Blakey, and Cassandra Wilson, also achieved solo R&B chart success.

“I am super excited to return to South Africa as a special guest with my dear friend, Dave Koz,” Walker shares. “South Africa is truly my second home, and I can’t wait to perform for such an enthusiastic audience. We have a love that goes back to Eddie Zondi, when he first introduced my music to SA, and I am forever grateful.”
