Suzuki Grand Vitara recall: 543 vehicles affected in South Africa

Suzuki Auto South Africa is recalling 543 Grand Vitara vehicles over a potential fault that could prevent the low fuel warning light from switching on.

The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has notified consumers that the recall affects certain Suzuki Grand Vitara vehicles made available for sale through dealerships nationwide from May 2025.

Owners of affected vehicles are urged to visit their nearest authorised Suzuki dealership for a fuel gauge inspection.

What is wrong with the Suzuki Grand Vitara?

According to the manufacturer, the low fuel warning light may fail to illuminate as the vehicle’s fuel level decreases.

This means drivers may not receive a warning when their fuel is running low.

As a result, an affected vehicle could run out of fuel, causing the engine to stall and preventing it from starting.

What should Suzuki Grand Vitara owners do?

The NCC has advised owners of affected vehicles to take them to their nearest authorised Suzuki dealership.

The dealership will inspect the vehicle’s fuel gauge and carry out any necessary corrective work.

The inspection and corrective work will be performed at no cost to the vehicle owner.
