Tropika Island of Treasure Season 12 heads to Réunion Island

The wait is almost over as Tropika Island of Treasure returns for Season 12, bringing a new group of celebrities, contestants and challenges to Réunion Island.

The new season will see celebrities paired with members of the public as they compete in physical and mental challenges in the race for treasure.

Tropika Island of Treasure Season 12 premieres on Wednesday, 23 September at 21:00 on SABC 1, with repeats every Thursday from 24 September at 18:00 on S3.

Eight celebrities join Tropika Island of Treasure

Season 12 brings together eight well-known South African personalities.

The celebrity line-up features Nadia Nakai, Caster Semenya, Francois Hougaard, Leandie du Randt, Sandile Mahlangu, Amanda du-Pont, Lalela Mswane and Wiseman Mncube.

Each celebrity will be paired with a member of the public, with the eight consumer contestants set to be revealed soon.

Together, the teams will face challenges testing their strength, endurance, strategy, teamwork and determination.

As the competition progresses, alliances will form, pressure will increase and teams will need to fight for their place in the island adventure.

Zanele Potelwa returns as host

Zanele Potelwa returns to guide viewers through Season 12.

Following her SAFTA nomination for Best TV Presenter for the previous season, Potelwa is back to lead viewers through the challenges, twists and competition.

“Tropika Island of Treasure has always been about adventure, connection and creating unforgettable experiences, and Season 12 takes that spirit to an entirely new level,” said Sveti Kovatcheva, Brand Manager: Dairy Fruit Mix at Clover.

Réunion Island becomes the new playground

Réunion Island provides the setting for this season, with its volcanic landscapes, lush mountains, turquoise waters and vibrant culture forming the backdrop to the competition.

Contestants will have to tackle unexpected twists and high-stakes challenges as they work with their partners to stay in the race.

Viewers can expect drama, laughter, strategy, surprises and plenty of “smoooth” moments along the way.
