Filmmaker Koos Roets received an honorary award during a separate ceremony at The Bay Hotel earlier on Saturday.

Afrikaans Creative Talent Celebrated

Waldimar Pelser, Director for Premium Channels at MultiChoice, a Canal+ company, said recognising strong work in the industry holds growing importance.

“I am astounded every year by the collective creative power that exists in the Afrikaans industry and the diverse ways in which it finds expression,” he said.

Pelser said kykNET would continue investing in programming across current affairs, reality television, soap operas, drama and comedy.

Landmyn Wins Four Headline Categories

Directed by Nico Scheepers, Landmyn won all four of its headline categories.

The film received:

  • Best Feature Film
  • Best Actor for Ben Albertyn
  • Best Actress for Anna-Mart van der Merwe

Scheepers also enjoyed success with Hen at the previous year’s awards.

Pelser described Landmyn as a different type of film with the potential to leave an impact.

“It is a relationship drama in which he and the outstanding cast prove how unsettling a small gesture can be,” he said.

The 2026 Silwerskerm Awards brought established performers and emerging talent together while recognising work across Afrikaans film and television.
