Celebrating its 15th anniversary, the Mr and Miss Sovereign Western Cape pageant returns with glamour, purpose and a powerful message of unity and visibility for the LGBTQIA+ community.
A Milestone Celebration of Identity and Expression
The stage is set for one of the Western Cape’s most anticipated cultural events. On Saturday, 1 November 2025, the Joseph Stone Auditorium will come alive as 16 finalists compete for the titles of Mr and Miss Sovereign Western Cape 2025, marking the event’s 15th consecutive year – and the third year including the Mr Sovereign category.
Previously known as Miss Gay Western Cape, the Sovereign pageant has evolved into a dynamic platform that celebrates excellence, individuality, and empowerment beyond gender labels. The 2025 edition will showcase contestants in themed wear, swimwear and evening wear as they compete for the crown while championing LGBTQIA+ representation and dignity.
A Pageant with a Deeper Purpose
More than a spectacle of beauty and fashion, the Sovereign pageant plays a crucial role in advocacy and social awareness. It promotes respect, representation, and inclusivity across sexual orientation, gender identity, culture and race.
“Deconstructing shame and breaking down barriers is essential in creating a just and equitable society,” says the Sovereign organising committee.
Finalists will face a Q&A session in front of a judging panel, aimed at selecting ambassadors who not only embody style and charisma, but who also possess the leadership, intelligence and authenticity to represent the LGBTQIA+ community proudly on public platforms.

High-Energy Entertainment and Iconic Performances
To mark its 15th anniversary, the pageant promises a star-studded line-up and high-voltage entertainment. Audiences can look forward to performances from:
- Daylin Sass – Idols SA and Maak My Famous sensation
- Manila von Teez – Star of Beaulah: Queens van die Kaap
- Omnia Dancers – Bringing dynamic choreography to the stage
- And more surprise acts
Charismatic entertainer Naythan Kayser will return as MC, ensuring a seamless flow of excitement, humour and heart.
